A Considerably richer and deeper black dye was inevitably observed made out of the oak apple or "gall-nut". The gall-nut is a little round tumor which grows on oak along with other types of trees. They range in dimension from 2–5 cm, and so are brought on by substances injected via the larva of specific sorts of gall wasp in the family Cynipidae
